"In spite of material prosperity, there is a feeling today that all is not well," the Bishop of Carlisle, Dr. Thomas Bloomer, said in his address to the Diocesan Conference in the Princess Hall, Workington. . . . "The Church to-day must forswear secondary concerns, for it is called upon to concentrate on the fundamentals of our faith—the reality in God, the purpose of God revealed in Jesus Christ, the reality of the spiritual, the purposefulness of life and the joy of living to the glory of God."
