RADIO PROGRAM No. 26 - Should Religion Heal?—Part II

[This is the second in a special group of four programs on the subject: "Should Religion Heal?"]

HOST: There's a growing library of literature on spiritual healing, setting forth various points of view. For instance, a booklet called "The Churches' Handbook for Spiritual Healing," to which clergymen from a number of large Protestant denominations contributed, says on page 24 of the current sixth edition:

"If we are to judge by the ministry of Jesus and His disciples, as we see it in the New Testament, the basic ministry of the church includes healing. If healing is extended to include the spirit and the mind, as well as the body, the basic ministry truly is healing. As far as bodily healing is concerned, Jesus Himself gave it far more attention than the average church does today."

But how large a place should healing through prayer hold in the religion of a Christian?
