Of Good Report

Church building is a challenge to those participating in this activity, but it becomes a joyous project, blessing everyone, when we rely fully on the divine Mind. Following are examples of how church members—all of them in small branches—proved the truth of these words by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 232): "The right way wins the right of way, even the way of Truth and Love whereby all our debts are paid, mankind blessed, and God glorified."

A Christian Science Society in England tells of its building experience:

"For some time our society was holding its services in a private dwelling, many aspects of which were not at all satisfactory. The members therefore appointed a committee to do prayerful metaphysical work about this. Only a week or two after starting the work it occurred to the committee to investigate a site in a very fine location on which was an old school which had been standing unused for some years. Although the project seemed very big to us, the members supported the idea unanimously. Negotiations were started with the owner, but he refused to sell less than the entire building, which we felt was far too large and costly. Some months later, however, the property was bought by friends of the society at a considerably reduced figure; and these friends resold to us the portion we needed, offering to give any profit from the resale of the remaining part to the society.
