Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Paradise, California (First Church).

The dedication services of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Paradise, California, will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The public is invited to join the church membership in the observance.

The site of the church at 565 Pearson Road was purchased in October, 1947, but the history of the local church began in May, 1932, when a group of students of Christian Science organized to hold regular services in their homes. Meetings were later held in several local halls.

The group was recognized by The Mother Church as a Christian Science Society on July 27, 1938,...and the society's change of title to First Church of Christ, Scientist, Paradise, received recognition on May 10, 1951. ...

The dedication of the Paradise church was made possible through the help of friends, past and present members, a grant from the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy, and a gift from the Selina C. Cornish Fund.—Paradise Post (November 10, 1960).
