I have much reason to be grateful for Christian Science. During the last thirteen years, particularly, it has influenced my life more and more and guided every step of my work. There have been healings of minor as well as of major difficulties. They all proved to me that it is the divine Principle, Love, which is operative in each healing, not chance. One healing stands out, because as it came about I was conscious of its taking place from one minute to the next.

One Friday evening I became ill with pain in my ears and my throat. I began to pray as we are taught in Christian Science. But on Saturday the pain was much stronger, and I could not swallow. My wife joined me in prayer. During Saturday there was no physical improvement. So we asked a Christian Science practitioner for treatment for me.

During all this time I knew that only Truth could be my remedy. I was convinced of the healing power of Science, but it was as if I, though seeing and following the right guiding star, was still walking through the wilderness. I repeated many familiar passages from the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, but I got no healing glimpse of Truth.
