The Christ Is Truth

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Sammy attends the Christian Science Sunday School regularly. Every Sunday the children in his class ask many questions, but for many weeks Sammy asked the same question, "What is the Christ?"

His teacher always answered by recommending that he give thought to the definition of "Christ" in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. This definition reads (p. 583), "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error."

Sammy thought about these words a great deal, but he did not yet understand what they meant. So one Sunday the teacher pointed out that when we express such Godlike qualities as obedience, love, gentleness, truthfulness, the Christ is present in our individual consciousness. Fear, anger, doubt, dishonesty, are errors. She explained that when we express good thoughts, error is destroyed. In that way we prove that the Christ is the Truth.
