I often heard my parents, who were earnest members of an orthodox church, give this quotation from the Bible (John 3:7): "Ye must be born again."

When I became a student of Christian Science, I learned what it means to be born again. Our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tells us in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 15): "The new birth is not the work of a moment. It begins with moments, and goes on with years; moments of surrender to God, of childlike trust and joyfuladoption of good; moments of self-abnegation, self-consecration, heaven-born hope, and spiritual love."

I should like to share a few of the healings and demonstrations of God's power which we have experienced in our family. One morning I awoke with a sore throat, and by noon I had to retire to my room. I read, studied, and communed with God. I sat for about an hour, and many helpful thoughts came to me from our Leader's works. One message from Science and Health was outstanding (p. 492), "For right reasoning there should be but one fact before the thought, namely spiritual existence." The conviction then came to me that I was healed, and it proved to be true, for I was completely free from the sore throat.
