When I was seven years old I developed asthma. I suffered a great deal from it and had to sit up in a chair many nights. I became frail, fearful, and discouraged. The condition continued until I was due to graduate from high school. Then our family doctor told my parents I should go out West to the mountains, where the air was drier and the climate warmer. I went to a town in the southern part of Colorado. I stayed there for about a year, feeling improved physically.
When I returned home I obtained a position doing manual labor; but I soon discovered that the asthma had not left me. It was hard for me to work, and again I became discouraged, finally I had to give up my employment.
My father was by this time a Christian Scientist, having been healed of a goiter through the application of this Science. He came to the rescue by prevailing on me to see a Christian Science practitioner.
