A CHRISTIAN SCIENTIST'S PRAYER
Once
I prayed for recognition,
For a share of wealth and fame,
For personal acclaim.
Truth's awakening brought contrition.
The light began to dawn on me;
Then all at once I could see
The futile ways of vanity.
Now my most sincere petition
For Christlike humility,
God-bestowed ability
To perform my holy mission,
Reflect His light, His truth proclaim,
Which comforts, heals in Christ's dear name.
This today is my one great aim.
