Spiritual Gravitation

"When a small boy drops his football, the force of gravity draws it to the ground. At the moment he may not know why, but as he grows up he will learn of the forces that have to do with his every action; and he will indeed be fortunate if he seeks the spiritual truth of what he observes.

"We tread on forces." So writes Mrs. Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 124). Then follows an astonishing statement: "Withdraw them, and creation must collapse. Human knowledge calls them forces of matter; but divine Science declares that they belong wholly to divine Mind, are inherent in this Mind, and so restores them to their rightful home and classification." Gravity rightly understood, then, belongs to Mind. It is spiritual. Spiritual gravity keeps man in perfect relationship to his divine Principle and makes possible mankind's moral and spiritual development.

Is the theory of the fall of man from a state of spiritual perfection a contradiction of the inviolability of the spiritual law of gravity? If so, our redemption from such a theory and its consequences must come through a correct understanding of this law and the power of such understanding to redeem us from its disastrous effects.
