In increasing measure for more...

In increasing measure for more than twenty years Christian Science has been fulfilling the deepest desire of my early youth: to know more of God. I am sincerely grateful for the day when the fact dawned upon me that the allness of God precludes the reality of anything unlike Him. I have had so many proofs of the efficacy of Science that I cannot doubt that it is indeed the truth which Jesus said would make us free (see John 8:32).

The smoking habit dropped away many years ago, and I can truthfully say that a few hours would cover all my absences from work on account of illness since I first accepted Christian Science. However, for a period of some months my eyesight troubled me increasingly; my eyes became more and more painful until reading for any length of time was impossible. When I gained a more certain vision of the mission of The Mother Church, my normal sight was quickly restored.

On another occasion I lost my voice for two days prior to an assignment to address an audience from the stage of a large cinema. I was tempted to pass the duty to another; but I decided to rely steadfastly on the certainty of God's help in any right endeavor. At the very moment that I had need of it, my voice returned, reaching to every corner of the cinema. The amplification system failed to function at first, but my voice was so clear that I actually had no need of the amplifier.
