RADIO PROGRAM No. 396 - Why Christian Scientists Rely on God for Healing

SPEAKER: In discussing our topic today, perhaps a good way to start is to take a typical illustration, that is, a situation in which a man had to decide whether or not to rely wholeheartedly on God for healing. Russell Warren, of Fort Myers, Florida, was the person who had this experience. After he has told us about it, we'll talk further concerning his decision.

MR. WARREN: Back in 1952 I was working for a television station. One of my duties was to handle a boom microphone. In order to operate this equipment, I had to stand on a platform, raised some three or four feet from the floor. One evening after a rehearsal I started to get down. There was a small stepladder there by the platform, and as I stepped on top of it, it turned over. As I hit the floor, I was knocked unconscious. When I came to, I tried to move my arms, but I couldn't. The company officials wanted X rays taken; so they took me to a hospital.

I had been a student of Christian Science since I was a young boy; so I knew that God's power was instantly available to help and heal me. So right away I tried to lift my thinking above the situation to the truth that a material accident can never affect God's perfect, spiritual man.
