Loving Our Neighbor

To love each other we must understand each other; and to do this we must first understand ourselves—who we are, what the purpose of our lives is, and how this purpose can be achieved. Then we shall be able really to understand our neighbor.

In the Lord's Prayer, Christ Jesus referred to the source of being as "Our Father which art in heaven" (Matt. 6:9). This must mean that all individuals have a common spiritual ancestry. From this standpoint, in our true selfhood we are at this moment living witnesses to the power, the nature, the glory of God, who is Love.

As effect, man shows forth the nature of his cause. He exists to express God, to glorify and honor His presence and power. We demonstrate this through obedience to the divine will, through intelligent, undeviating loyalty to divine Principle, Love. Such expression identifies us as the man of God's creating and enables us to understand and to prove what we really are.
