"Thou shalt not be afraid for...
"Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day" (Ps. 91: 5). This quotation and the rest of the psalm helped my daughter and me to overcome fear one night while on a motor trip to Florida.
We had planned to stay overnight near a ferry in Virginia. It had been cloudy all day and began to snow when we were still quite a long way from our intended stopping place. Many cars were pulling off the road, but my daughter, who was driving, decided to keep on, and we did so. We got a motel room right at the ferry, had our dinner there, and retired early.
About eleven o'clock we were suddenly awakened by a deluge of rain against the window. There were thunder and lightning and a terrific roar as the wind began to blow against the locked door, which was bending at the top and bottom with the force. My daughter ran over and threw her weight against it, and the lock held. Water and wind were coming in around the door.
