In 1925 my sister from California...
In 1925 my sister from California visited me, and when she saw what desperate need I was in, told me about Christian Science. She had tried to tell me of it ten years before, but I had not listened. This time, however, when everything else had failed, I listened to what she said and went to a testimony meeting with her the following Wednesday evening. From then on, I was sure that this Science was what I wanted.
I had had surgery, once for gallstones and twice for female disorders, and I was still ill when I became a widow with three children: a girl of ten and two boys, aged fourteen and sixteen. I was too ill to care very much what happened, but as I read the Christian Science literature, I became convinced that I could be well.
I began studying daily the Bible Lesson from the Quarterly and became so uplifted through this study that I forgot about my physical condition. I wanted to take out an insurance policy some time later, but because of the surgery I had had, it was necessary for me to submit to a thorough examination by the company doctor. He found me in normal health.
