Many years ago I attended a lecture on Christian Science. I saw that it is the Science of Truth and Love, and I was very eager to learn more about it. Through the earnest daily study of the Lesson-Sermons, found in the Christian Science Quarterly, and further study of the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came a growing spiritual understanding of man, made in God's image and likeness. I found myself with a new concept of life, which is teaching me to express more humility and patience and to have more compassion for others.
Soon after starting to study I had the opportunity to put the truths of Christian Science into practice. I became ill with an attack of ptomaine poisoning. As I reached out to God for help, the words, "Love never loses sight of loveliness" (Science and Health, p. 248), came to me, and with them a glimpse of God as Love and man as His image and likeness, never subject to discord.
Suddenly I realized that I was healed. I was overwhelmed with gratitude, for I was not aware of ever having memorized that statement. This was concrete proof to me that God is Mind and that man. His image and likeness, expresses intelligence. I wanted to sing out, "Thank You, God!"
