Signs of the Times
The Bishop of Carlisle in the Carlisle Diocesan News Carlisle, Cumberland, England
In the midst of material prosperity we all need to be reminded that "man shall not live by bread alone." It is the purpose of the Church to proclaim and implement this basic truth about ourselves.
If we think only in terms of the material, we restrict life to something that is narrow and transitory, but if we know ourselves to be spiritual beings, we know that we are pilgrims on a journey and that life is big and broad and bounded only by eternity.
