RADIO PROGRAM No. 356 - Turning Despair into Victory

SPEAKER: Today you'll hear from a woman whose life seemed to be shattered when her husband suddenly left her. But she learned how to conquer despair and discouragement, and she found comfort and practical help through her study of one of the well-known events in the Bible. As a courtesy, because of the nature of the experience, we're not going to use her real name. We'll just call her Mrs. Brown. But I want to emphasize that she is the woman who actually had this experience.

Please tell us about it now, Mrs. Brown.

MRS. BROWN: All right; this is what occurred. Without warning, after twenty-four years of happy married life. I was left alone. You can imagine the shock, confusion, and heartache I suffered. In addition, I was in a very serious financial plight. I was left with a business I knew very little about—the complete management of a large restaurant. I found there were thousands of dollars of unpaid bills, all considerably past due. Our two children were in private schools, and their tuitions were unpaid. My home was heavily mortgaged; taxes were overdue; and there was an overdraft at the bank of several hundred dollars.
