Over thirty years ago Christian Science was presented to me by a sister. As I read and studied this Christ message, material beliefs and false theological views began to drop away. Through studying at Christian Science Reading Rooms and attending free lectures on Christian Science and the church services, I advanced to branch church membership and to membership in The Mother Church. I was also led to take class instruction.

Soon I achieved some measure of skill in the practice of this Science of healing through prayer. Colds, stopped-up ears, an ankle and a leg sprained by a fall down stone steps, a lame back, and fears of many kinds are a few of the conditions that have been healed.

When I awakened one morning and found that both my ears were stopped up and that I could hear nothing, I was frightened, thinking that this condition might remain for the rest of my life. I worked with the definition of "ears" from the Glossary of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which reads as follows (p. 585): "Not organs of the so-called corporeal senses, but spiritual understanding."
