About sixteen years ago I heard of Christian Science. Our child was only a year old at the time and had a bowel condition which the doctors did not relieve. I studied almost constantly with the desire to learn all there was to learn of this Science. Then it became clear to me that this was a lifetime study, not something one could read for a while and then cast aside.

I found this statement particularly helpful (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 259); "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration." I held to the words "perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration," and with the aid of a loving practitioner the child was healed in a short time. At another time she was healed of a severe earache in one treatment.

After I had read and studied for about six months, the smoking habit dropped away, as did the social drinking habit. When visiting a practitioner one day I told her about a pain in my right side that had occurred at short intervals for about twelve years. She said to me, "Do you have this pain now?"
