In 1918, during the epidemic of influenza, I was stricken with this condition in a severe form. It left me with a bad eye condition. Not being interested in Christian Science at the time, I was advised by a medical doctor and by an eye specialist to go to a hospital for treatment; this I did.
The doctor told me that there was a growth coming on one eye and that at some future date it would have to be removed by surgery. Classes were prescribed and immediately procured, because at times the pain was very severe.
Also at this time I had a complete nervous breakdown. We left the Middle West in 1923 for the West Coast, thinking the change would benefit me. It surely did. We moved next door to a Christian Scientist, and when she presented Christian Science to me, I was ready for this wonderful truth which frees mankind from the claims of mortal mind.
