"GOD IS ON THE FIELD"

For centuries people have turned to the Bible for comfort and healing, for it contains many accounts of reliance on the power of God. One such account is the story of David and Goliath in the seventeenth chapter of I Samuel.

When studied in conjunction with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, this story holds healing messages for the earnest Bible reader. The spiritual understanding gained from such study shows that the story is that of David's absolute faith in God and of how this faith overcame the seeming power of the Philistines arrayed against the armies of Saul.

David's faith was based on his experiences as a shepherd boy. When assuring Saul of his ability to cope with Goliath, he said, "The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine." David knew that God, with His protecting, all-embracing, ever-present power, was already on the field. He had proved before that God is always at hand.
