WHERE IS SAFETY?

The Bible is replete with promises of safety, such as the familiar ones: "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee" (Isa. 26:3), and, "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms" (Deut. 33:27). Although today there are at our disposal more appliances than ever before to assure our safety, catastrophes and disasters sometimes occur.

On page 124 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes: "We tread on forces. Withdraw them, and creation must collapse. Human knowledge calls them forces of matter; but divine Science declares that they belong wholly to divine Mind, are inherent in this Mind, and so restores them to their rightful home and classification."

Here, then, is the way to find safety. Everything in the universe must be restored to its "rightful home and classification." Safety is inherent in an understanding of the truth of man's being and of his oneness, or unity, with God. Regardless of whether one is traveling in a plane, on a ship or a train, or in his own car, the experience must be resolved into spiritual thought in order to be safe and harmonious.
