WHAT IS YOUR AIM IN LIFE?

The question is often asked of children, "What do you expect to be when you grow up?" The answers to this question are sometimes fantastic and range from the lowest menial occupation to the highest positions which men can attain.

Christ Jesus, the greatest man who ever lived, indicated that his aim was to glorify God in all that he did and to bring to mankind a more abundant life. On the occasion of the last supper, the disciples contended among themselves about who should be the greatest. Then Jesus pointed out to them what their true ambition should be. He said (Luke 22:27), "Whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth."

Do these words of Jesus mean that the Christian Scientist's aim should be to hold the lowliest positions in church, business, or community? Not at all ! The Master was pointing out that whatever one's position in life, his aim must be unselfish, namely to advance only through glorifying God in his every thought and deed.
