RADIO PROGRAM No. 229 - Making a Fresh Start

Speaker: Probably most of us, at some time in our experience, have longed for an opportunity to begin our lives afresh, to wipe out past mistakes, failures, sickness, or sin. Clifford W. Oprea, of Martin Grove, Illinois, found the way to do just that, and he's here to tell us how.

Mr. Oprea: Our family came into Christian Science about twenty-one years ago when my brother was healed instantaneously of what had been diagnosed as acute appendicitis. I attended the Sunday School, but then after I went into the Army, I began to stray quite far afield from its teachings. I was drinking socially, smoking quite heavily, and indulging in some rather unpleasant traits of character.

Then I had a very severe attack of what they later told me was bronchial asthma. In fact, this resulted in my getting a medical discharge from the Army, because the doctors said the condition was chronic and incurable. After I returned to civilian life, I had some very serious attacks which kept me out of work for long periods. I turned to a practitioner and would get some relief, but I was still very discouraged, unhappy, and sick.
