It is more than twenty years since...
It is more than twenty years since a testimony of mine was published in the Christian Science periodicals. In it I tried to express a true sense of gratitude for all that I had received through the power of good contained in the operation of Christian Science.
The way has been upwards and at times rugged, but I have held to the necessity of rejoicing under such conditions. When my wife passed on more than ten years ago, my healing of grief was complete. To a very satisfactory degree I was lifted into the joy of working for our great Cause, to which I owe much, if not everything.
Over these years I have had two immediate healings from accidents which occurred while I was engaged in the erection of machinery and under circumstances that appeared to be ominous. In the first case, I fell onto a railway track, with my arm under my body. When I arose the arm was useless. I returned to my office to work prayerfully for the restoration of harmony. In the quiet of my office I realized something of the truth of being as taught in Science, and in less than half an hour my arm was normal.
In the second case, I fell from a height. As I was falling, I declared the omnipresence of God and man's immunity from danger. I fell upright into the only space where I could have landed without being seriously hurt. In a few minutes I was again at work and none the worse for the experience. Some of the men who were with me had a much greater fright than I had.
On two occasions during the Second World War, I suffered from food poisoning. In each instance the condition was destroyed in less than two days, and there was no need for a period of convalescence. Other attacks of physical sickness have been handled immediately, and in more than twenty years I have not lost ten days from business or from the fulfillment of church duties. As I was a sick man when I first came into Christian Science, there is little wonder that I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her discovery of this Science, especially since it is based wholly on the Bible.
My business life was conducted under the direction of Science. Because of this guidance I was protected from inharmony, and I reached retirement satisfactorily. Since then my work in church activities has claimed my attention increasingly, and now I am in the happy position of working exclusively for our Cause.
I am grateful to our Father-Mother God, to Christ Jesus, to whom we owe our loving homage, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has my affectionate loyalty beyond expression. Finally, I am grateful to Science for great happiness and for the friends I have made and kept.—Frank H. Roberts, Urmston, Lancashire, England.
