CONSTRUCTIVE KNOWING VERSUS IDLE SPECULATION

Constructive thinking is the need of today, and the revelation of Christian Science provides the truths which base such thinking. Through the study of the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy one soon discerns the falsity of theoretical beliefs, which would seem to engulf one in what is nothing more than idle speculation.

Christian Science teaches that man is the image and likeness of God. This teaching is wholly in accord with the true record of creation in the first chapter of Genesis. Since God is divine Mind and since Mind's prerogative is to know, man's inherent ability as God's reflection is to know the unlimited qualities of Mind.

When Jesus said (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," he was stating in terms unmistakable to those ready or willing to hear what our only need is. Jesus' knowing was the natural outcome of his understanding of God as the parent Mind; it was the basis of his constructive thinking. His knowing the truth, regardless of sense evidence, was true prayer. To pray understandingly, one needs to know to whom he is addressing his prayers. He needs to know what God is and how to align his thoughts in order to be in accord with Him.
