Over a period of twenty years I...

Over a period of twenty years I have proved God to be the great Physician, and His healing power has never been found wanting.

Before coming to Christian Science, I had been seeking help for the healing of stomach trouble which had become so bad that I could not eat anything except specially prepared foods. Although I had had much treatment at the hands of physicians, I was weighing less than one hundred pounds. One day a woman gave my mother a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. My mother, who had been bedridden for months, was healed through reading this textbook, and she gave it to me.

I began to read it, starting with the Preface. These words on page 1 gave me a thought I had not had before: "Thoughts unspoken are not unknown to the divine Mind. Desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds I still feel a glow from these beautiful words, for through them my healing took place. All of the prepared foods were put in the trash can, and I began eating what the rest of the family ate. In only a few weeks I was weighing one hundred and forty pounds.

This healing was wonderful to me. It came about solely by my reading Science and Health, and it has proved permanent. Since that time I have had many other healings—of colds, sore throat, skin irritation on my face, corns, headaches, broken bones, and the effects of a stroke. Some of these healings came through my own prayerful work, and others came through the work of practitioners. In particular, I want to express my sincere gratitude for the practitioner who helped me to overcome grief when my husband passed on.

I can never be grateful enough for Mrs. Eddy's wonderful discovery of Truth, for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for the privilege of class instruction.—(Mrs.) Lorriel G. Hibbs, Seymour, Texas.
