My first testimony appeared in...

My first testimony appeared in The Christian Science Journal about twenty years ago. I feel I should like once again to express my gratitude in our periodicals for Christian Science.

My first healing was that of the need of wearing glasses, and this healing has been permanent. In World War II while living in London, I was most grateful for the protecting power of divine Love during the air raids. I can truthfully say I was not afraid. One passage from our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, helped me very much. It reads (p. 571), "Clad in the panoply of Love, human hatred cannot reach you." The ninety-first Psalm was also a most wonderful help. Often at bedtime, when the planes were noisy overhead. I used to read this Psalm and then lie down and go happily to sleep.

One healing I am particularly grateful for is that of a poisoned arm. My cat was very much frightened one night, and when I picked him up to carry him indoors, he bit my hand. The pain and swelling were rather alarming, and I was unable to use the arm. I asked a practitioner to help me, and a Christian Science nurse looked after me until the healing was complete. I am grateful for the consecrated work of the practitioner and the assistance of the nurse during this time.
