Having been brought up in...
Having been brought up in Christian Science, I have experienced healings too numerous to mention. One, however, stands out to me above all others. While the physical healing was not rapid, many unlovely traits of character were overcome and much spiritual progress was made.
A required physical examination brought the medical verdict that I was suffering from an organic heart disease, and I was told not to participate in sports. Following this, I was subject to periodic heart attacks. Each time I had help from a Christian Science practitioner, and the immediate symptoms were always alleviated. Later on, however, examinations which were required at school and at the place where I applied for work brought the medical verdict that the heart condition appeared to be permanent.
I became very discouraged and extremely fearful. I resolved that never again would I apply for a position requiring a physical examination. A practitioner lovingly pointed out to me the necessity of seeing the nothingness of the so-called physical laws and referred me to page 200 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, where she states, "Whoever is incompetent to explain Soul would be wise not to undertake the explanation of body."
