TRIUMPHANT GUIDANCE

The story of the hired man who finished easily numerous physical tasks but who broke down completely under the strain of grading potatoes is generally known, as is his answer to the farmer, "It's making the decisions that's killing me." Here is the incongruous spectacle of a so-called mind that cannot make up its mind. Indecision, fear, doubt, cause the downfall of mankind at every level of society, from the individual in the home to those making business and government decisions of the highest order. It is reliance upon such a mind that is the hard core of mortal man's troubles.

"If only I had known," groans humanity. Yet we go along believing in and relying on a limited, personal mortal mind, subject to mistakes, stoppages, incomplete understanding—a mind susceptible of erroneous thinking. The Bible assures us that wisdom is God-given and continuously available to guide one triumphantly into paths of righteousness and harmony. Typical of such assurances is this passage from Proverbs (2:6, 7): "The Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous."

This was proved in many instances recorded in Scripture. Abraham was led by God from Ur into the promised land. Moses and the children of Israel were brought safely through the wilderness by the guiding intelligence of divine Mind. Elisha, David, Isaiah, to name only a few people of Old Testament times, repeatedly received divine guidance in every phase of their daily activities, as did Christ Jesus and the apostles later. Such guidance may be ours today.
