I wish to add my testimony so that others may be helped to progress on the journey from sense to Soul. My first physical healing in Christian Science was that of arthritis in an advanced stage. During my first visit in a practitioner's home I knew that I had found something I wanted, something I had been searching for since childhood.

The practitioner's understanding of God's spiritual creation, including man, brought great enlightenment to me. When I left her home I felt as though I were not even touching the sidewalk, whereas before there had been times when I could not walk and was bedfast for months. Well-known medical clinics and physicians had said that nothing could be done for me and that I would gradually become worse and be an invalid all my life. Crooked fingers became so straight that afterward I was able to go into the fashion business, where freedom of the fingers is required.

From childhood I had constant headaches, chronic constipation, and a painful condition of the stomach, but all vanished at once with my first study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The first statement that impressed me is on page 14: "We cannot 'serve two masters.' To be 'present with the Lord' is to have, not mere emotional ecstasy or faith, but the actual demonstration and understanding of Life as revealed in Christian Science. To be 'with the Lord' is to be in obedience to the law of God, to be absolutely governed by divine Love,—by Spirit, not by matter."
