From childhood I have known of...

From childhood I have known of the teachings of Christian Science, having attended the Sunday School of a Church of Christ, Scientist. For this privilege I feel deeply grateful. One great point that was brought out during the years of my attendance was the importance of listening for and expecting the angels of God's presence. On page 581 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy defines "angels" in part as, "God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect." I have found over and over again through the years the most wonderful and reassuring comfort in this acceptance of angels.

On one occasion I was quickly healed when I turned to divine Mind and listened for its angels. I was alone at home one day when I was taken very ill with severe pains, accompanied by such dizziness that I felt too ill to stand or even to call for help from a practitioner. All I could do was to lie down. Then I realized that I could be conscious of good alone, since anything else is only a mistaken, reversed sense of the allness of God. The wonder of the richness of God's love so filled my thought that there was no place for belief in the absence of it, and I found myself healed and fully able to continue the work I had been doing in the house. There were no aftereffects of the illness, and there has been no return of it in the six years since then.

I am exceedingly grateful for the many physical healings which I have experienced in Christian Science and for a better understanding of what health is. However, I am even more grateful for the freedom which I have gained through seeing more of the nature of God, instead of false traits of character, both in myself and others. I cannot close this testimony without adding my deep gratitude for the activities of Christian Science, for the practitioners, and for the wonderful privilege of class instruction.—(Mrs.) Dorothy H. Nowell, London, England.
