CLING TO THE ROCK
[Of Special Interest to Children]
Richard attends school in a city near the ocean. One time his class chose "Animals of the Seashore" as a topic for special study, and many children brought sea shells to school. The teacher read stories about salt-water life and showed colored pictures of it.
At the end of the semester the class chartered a city bus for an excursion to the tide pools. Upon arriving at the beach, the children were told to watch the tide pools closely, but not to disturb what they found. Then others could see and enjoy the sea animals, too.
Richard saw the sea anemones that looked like beautiful flowers. He enjoyed watching the hermit crabs. These crabs find an abandoned shell to fit their size and carry it over them wherever they go.
