"Remember, thou canst be...

"Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee. Therefore despair not nor murmur, for that which seeketh to save, to heal, and to deliver, will guide thee, if thou seekest this guidance" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany by Mrs. Eddy, pp. 149, 150). The foregoing and many other citations were very helpful during my experience the last year my father was with me, which was his eighty-seventh year.

As I kept in thought the Golden Rule, caring for him was never burdensome but rather an opportunity to serve. A valuable lesson learned at this time was to continue in well-doing and allow nothing to interfere with the work of proving the ever-present availability of God. This helped me to reject the lie that man can be old or sick, replacing it with the truth that man is spiritual, upright, joyous, and free, never in bondage to mortality.

Over a period of years I have had many healings through the study and application of Christian Science. Acne, nervous exhaustion, and constipation have been healed; unemployment, lack, and grief have been overcome; and protection from accidents has been experienced. When self-depreciation and condemnation were seen as no part of man and were replaced with the understanding that man can never be separated from God, who alone governs him, this purifying process brought a complete healing of pyorrhea.
