An editorial in the Sentinel made...

An editorial in the Sentinel made me realize that it has been many years since I used the Christian Science periodicals as a channel to express my gratitude for the healing power of Truth. As I have many reasons to be thankful I wish to avail myself of that channel now.

Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 406), "Resist evil—error of every sort—and it will flee from you." The truth of this statement, which has been of great value to me many times, was proved in the following experience. On my way home one day I was taken suddenly ill and was in much pain. On reaching home I went straight to my bedroom and sat down on the nearest chair. I saw by the clock that I had just half an hour before I was due to leave to keep an appointment.

I found myself thinking, What good is half an hour in which to try to get rid of all this pain and suffering? However, I immediately resisted this sort of thinking and realized that time has nothing whatever to do with God's image and likeness. I shut my eyes and thought for some time about man made in God's image, knowing that if I could get a clear glimpse of the spiritual fact about my real self all would be well. When I opened my eyes I saw that the half hour had gone, and at the same time I realized that I was completely free.
