Signs of the Times

Dr. William T. Bean in the Eagle, Butler, Pennsylvania

The test of a true Christian does not lie in the religious fervor that he experiences during the celebration of great religious observances, but rather it lies within the changes that have taken place within the mind and heart of the individual which govern his thinking and action in everyday living.

These qualities of action are summed up and best expressed in the Beatitudes which were given to us by our Master in his Sermon on the Mount. These are summarized in one verse which best describes a true Christian life. That verse appears in the Book of St. Matthew, chapter 5, verse 16: "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see Your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." This is our rule for everyday action.
