LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

Daily News Chicago, Illinois

An article in your paper of [a recent date] quotes [an author] as having stated:

"I expect to continue to battle against everyone who threatens the practice of good medicine—whether it be Mary Baker G. Eddy, Oscar Ewing, or the traitors within our ranks."

History has well recorded that Mrs. Eddy was desirous of establishing firmly her discovery of scientific Mind-healing, so properly denominated by her "Christian Science." There is ample evidence that she succeeded in doing so, after first proving for herself and others that her system was potent, effective, and regenerative, but there is no evidence that it was ever her thought or aim to threaten the practice of good medicine.

The followers of Mary Baker Eddy are persisting in the example of their great Leader. They do not seek to deprive anyone of medical information or attention, and they respect the honest practitioners of the medical profession.

They claim, however, the right to use the spiritual resources at their command which, they are profoundly convinced, bring true healing.
