Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy...

Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, writes (Science and Health, pp. 323, 324): "Willingness to become as a little child and to leave the old for the new, renders thought receptive of the advanced idea. Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear,—this disposition helps to precipitate the ultimate harmony."

I thank God with all my heart that my thought became "receptive of the advanced idea" of which we learn in Christian Science. To be a student of this Science is to me the greatest blessing that can be bestowed on an individual. When I was a young student of Science I used to listen with awe to the truths spoken by a practitioner, and I asked her how one could make those truths one's own. She said, "By constantly affirming and demonstrating them." I decided to discipline my thinking to the truths I read in Science and Health, and today I can gratefully say that thoughts of God, of His law, and of His goodness to man come naturally to me.

For many physical healings through the application of Christian Science I am profoundly grateful. I have overcome fear of thunderstorms, as well as fear of being alone overnight. I have also proved God's presence, power, and protection while driving my car under adverse circumstances. But what I am most grateful for is a changed sense of values. Through the glorious teachings of Christian Science I have learned that "the life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment" (Luke 12:23), and I am earnestly striving to "put on the new man" (Eph. 4:24), the spiritual, perfect idea of God's creating.
