During the past forty-odd years...

During the past forty-odd years that I have been in Christian Science my blessings have been innumerable. About twenty-five years ago I had a testimony of healing published in the Sentinel. Since that time my blessings have been so great and so continual that now my heart overflows to the point where I again wish to submit a testimony of praise and thanksgiving.

I wish to express deep and humble gratitude for a beautiful healing which I experienced at the time of an annual physical examination required by the company for which I work. For seventeen years the report of each examination had been that of a perfect state of health. However, this particular year the examining physician reported a serious organic condition and stated that another examination would be requested by my company.

I immediately did mental work regarding this condition, realizing that the only law I could know was the law of God, which is the law of harmony, perfection, and omniaction. With these beautiful truths in my consciousness, I worked metaphysically for three weeks. On the morning of the second examination I asked a loving practitioner to work for me, because I knew that as my thoughts were harmonious, so would be my experience.

During the examination I was calm and alert to God's presence and perfection. The thought of material history came to me, and then I remembered Mrs. Eddy's great statement (Science and Health, pp. 470, 471), "The relations of God and man, divine Principle and idea, are indestructible in Science; and Science knows no lapse from nor return to harmony, but holds the divine order or spiritual law, in which God and all that He creates are perfect and eternal, to have remained unchanged in its eternal history." The truth of these words did the work for me, and I completed the examination in harmony. Some days later a letter from my company told me that the examination had been entirely satisfactory, thus giving me a clean record of health. My healing has been permanent.

A finger which was nearly severed from the hand was beautifully healed with the aid of a practitioner. At first the bleeding would not stop, but when the practitioner stressed the need of more love on my part a complete healing soon resulted. From this lesson more patience with my fellow man was learned.

A recent instance of protection while I was flying in a large air liner through a terrific storm proved the ever-presence of God. I was able to realize that man is encircled by God's perfection and protection. This clear thinking quickly destroyed all sense of fear, and soon the plane and all aboard were in complete safety.

A beautiful healing was experienced recently. I was knocked off a ladder from a height of about twenty-five feet by a falling branch. I found that a water pipe, sticking up in the ground, had gone through the pocket of my jacket, helping to break my fall. I immediately turned to God, knowing that the true, perfect man can never fall out of God's presence. In a very few days I had completely recovered.

For all of these proofs of God's care I am deeply grateful, but I am even more grateful for being able to learn about God. I am thankful for a loving wife, who helps me through each experience, and for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has elucidated for us the truth of God and of man's at-one-ment with Him. I am grateful to Christ Jesus, our forever Way-shower, also to the loving practitioners all over the world. For class instruction from a Christian Science teacher I can never cease to express joy and gratitude, because it has taught me how to think more clearly about man's unity with God. My only desire is that in payment for all these great blessings I may daily be about my Father's business of seeing the perfection of man.—Philip L. Angell, San Mateo, California.
