For the past twenty-five years...
For the past twenty-five years Christian Science has been my only means of healing. From early childhood I was subject to a peculiar form of disease which made me ill physically and mentally, depriving me of many joys and pleasures of childhood. I had medical treatments of almost every name and nature, with no relief. Christian Science was presented to me in my early womanhood, and through the help of practitioners and my study of our textbook, Science and Health, and Mrs. Eddy's other writings, I was healed. I have also witnessed the healings of influenza and false traits of character.
One day, while carrying a pail of water, I slipped and struck my wrist with great force on a doorstep. To all appearances the bones in the wrist were broken, and I experienced severe pain. However, I clung to the truth that man is God's idea, and also to "the scientific statement of being," given on page 468 of our textbook. The pain soon subsided, but I could not use the wrist. Through my persistent effort, however, to realize God's omnipotence and omnipresence, the following morning my wrist was entirely healed; there was not even a trace of discoloration. For this healing I am extremely grateful.
Words are inadequate to express my appreciation of class instruction, of our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, whose closeness to God enabled her to give Christian Science to the world, and of the practitioners who have helped me in the way Spiritward.—(Mrs.) Margaret E. Hogarth, Pittsford, New York.
