It was through the love, gentleness...

It was through the love, gentleness, and understanding of a very dear friend that I commenced to study Christian Science. I was teaching in a church school at the time and was informed that I must either give up Christian Science or cease to be a member of the school staff.

Much to the dismay of my parents and many of my friends I decided that it was impossible for me to give up Christian Science, as I had begun to love its teachings. I saw clearly that, as Mary Baker Eddy states on page 453 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "Honesty is spiritual power. Dishonesty is human weakness, which forfeits divine help." So, though I had a very good position, I unhesitatingly resigned. The time had come for me to take my stand on the side of Truth. This I did, not only willingly but joyously, placing my hand in that of my Father's. I went forward confidently, trusting in His love that never fails.

Very shortly after my resignation, and without any effort on my part, a telegram came from the principal of a large and well-known school in another town, asking if I was free to accept the post she offered. I accepted the post and became an active member of the Christian Science church in that town.
