DOMINION THROUGH PRAYER

Man is given dominion. This is a primal fact which is stated in the first chapter of Genesis. Dominion means power, authority, and control. The man referred to as possessing spiritual dominion is the man of God's making, or God's man.

All control is in divine Mind, and man exercises this control through reflection. All dominion is vested in God. He is the only cause, the one Principle, the one Spirit, and the only lawmaker. Mary Baker Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 379), "The real jurisdiction of the world is in Mind, controlling every effect and recognizing all causation as vested in divine Mind."

The supreme dominion and control of God are announced with frequency and precision throughout the Scriptures. For instance, David declared, "Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all" (I Chron. 29:11). It would be difficult to find a statement in the Scriptures which expresses the absolute power, dominion, and supremacy of God more concisely than does this one.
