"THE VISION INFINITE"

Christian Scientists are rejoicing in the spiritual vision which they are increasingly gaining through the study of divine Science. Spiritual discernment enables them to nullify the false belief that man cannot see perfectly or that he sees materially.

Man's vision is not dependent on the complicated set of muscles and tissues known to mortal sense as the human eye. Man is not a gloomy witness to discordant material pictures of a world in disarray. As a spiritual idea, he includes God-given discernment; as the image and likeness of God, he is eternally beholding the magnitude and glory of God's perfect spiritual creation. The Christian Scientist learns to be unperturbed by any suggestions of lack or limitation of sight, for with the truths he knows he can refute them. Neither does he accept as real any images of inharmony. Turning from imperfections and limitations of materiality, he can say, as Mary Baker Eddy did in reply to an invitation to attend a World's Fair (Miscellaneous Writings, pp. 321, 322), "I have a world of wisdom and Love to contemplate, that concerns me, and you, infinitely beyond all earthly expositions or exhibitions."

One day the writer, as she sat holding her small son on her lap, observed a small speck on his eye-ball. Thinking it to be a grain of sand or dust, she tried to remove it, but in vain. Looking more closely, she saw a tiny growth, and at first her thought was filled with fear. Then, almost immediately, there came a comforting sense of gratitude for Christian Science and for the opportunity to prove that it heals.
