TAKING OUR STAND FOR TRUTH

Kathleen has been going to the Christian Science Sunday School since she was very small. There she has learned that God is Spirit, that He is perfect, all-power, ever present, and that man is His image and likeness. Through the study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy she has proved that God is Love, her Father-Mother, who is always with her and ever caring for her.

Kathleen is now in junior high school and finds that she has many opportunities to apply the truths she is learning in Sunday School. Sometimes her mother helps her with her problems, but Kathleen prefers to find the Word of Truth and work out the problem herself, whether it is one of illness, inharmony at school or with her friends, or some other discord.

One thing that seemed very hard for her to overcome was a fearfulness and reluctance to take her stand publicly at school for Truth. Like her older brother and sister, she had always presented the signed exemption card which excused her from taking physical examinations or being treated by a doctor or school nurse. There had been explanation of this exemption at home, and Kathleen was grateful for it. Yet she was hesitant to use the privilege which had been granted by law to Christian Scientists in her state.
