THE TANGIBILITY OF SPIRITUAL IDEAS

On pages 502 and 503 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy says: "There is but one creator and one creation. This creation consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas and their identities, which are embraced in the infinite Mind and forever reflected." A new and wonderful understanding of God's power and wisdom is unfolded to the student of Christian Science as he gains a clearer concept of God's creation as consisting of spiritual ideas.

It was the Psalmist David who once said (40:5), "Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered." How near was this ancient witness of Truth to the recognition of God as divine Mind, and of creation as consisting of spiritual ideas!

What are spiritual ideas? They are the thoughts, the inspirations, the intuitions, the unfoldments of Truth and Love—whatever awakens, draws, and holds us to goodness and godliness. Actually, they are the very essence of our being. Man—God's image and likeness—is himself a conscious idea. His identity is the expression of God, the exact representation of God. Mrs. Eddy has defined spiritual man as the compound idea of divine Mind (see Science and Health, p. 591). This means that man is the complete expression of God, expressing all the ideas which constitute His creation.
