THE SIMPLE STRUCTURE OF OUR TENETS

The fundamentals of Christian Science are extremely simple. A student commencing the study of this Science naturally turns to the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, for correct information on the subject and studies it diligently, putting into practice the instruction it contains and learning by experience how to apply its rules and prove the truth he has studied.

Christian Scientists have no creed or doctrinal belief, but the important points of this Science are given on page 497 of the textbook in what Mrs. Eddy has termed the "religious tenets" of Christian Science. These Tenets are subscribed to by every member of The Mother Church and its branches.

The first of these Tenets reads, "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life." This statement turns us naturally to the Holy Bible, which is the book used by Mrs. Eddy as her only textbook during her preparation for the writing of Science and Health. It is noticeable that the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science did not develop her discovery by investigating ancient and modern philosophies or other religious creeds or beliefs. With characteristic directness she went straight to the Bible, and the Bible answered her questions.
