EVER-PRESENT PERFECTION
“Without perfection, nothing is wholly real." This striking statement is made by Mary Baker Eddy in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 353). Since her founding of the Christian Science movement nearly fourscore years ago, thousands of earnest Christians the world over, through consecrated study of the Bible and her works, have come to understand that radiant perfection is the natural order of spiritual being. By means of this understanding of the Christ, Truth, they have experienced spiritual regeneration and physical healing.
To realize the ever-presence of infinite perfection brings healing, for in the consciousness of divine perfection there can be no imperfection, no inharmony, no discord, no lack. But how are we to gain this consciousness? How can we know the allness of God, and how can we prove the nothingness of evil? By gaining an understanding of God as Mind, the only cause, and of man as His reflection, thus establishing as the foundation of our thought the scientific truth—perfect God and perfect man.
In the textbook Mrs. Eddy makes this compelling declaration in "the scientific statement of being" (p. 468): "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." God is All, and God is Mind. Could we start from a surer premise to prove the impotence and nothingness of evil? The truth of God's allness is the proof of evil's nothingness. The more we know of the allness of God, the more certain will be our proof of the nothingness of evil.
