Mental cloudiness healed after auto accident

Christian Science came into my experience when the need was very great, and my gratitude is profound. Prior to my first contact with the healing power of Truth, my mistaken concept of this Science had resulted in nothing but criticism, which has now been replaced by nothing but praise. Mary Baker Eddy writes on page 296 of Science and Health, "Either here or hereafter, suffering or Science must destroy all illusions regarding life and mind, and regenerate material sense and self." In my case, due to stubborn human will, my introduction to Christian Science was through suffering but "thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift" (II Cor. 9:15), for through that experience I found the pearl of great price.

I had been in an automobile accident in which both legs were fractured, and I suffered concussion of the brain, which resulted in a state of coma for twelve days. After a few miserable weeks in a hospital, I was taken home in a cast, at my own request. The suffering from shock and insomnia continued after I arrived home. In addition, a distressing mental condition developed: I recognized neither my home nor my beloved family.

My family was led to ask for Christian Science help, at which time all medical treatment and messaging were dispensed with. My family turned unreservedly to God, and the practitioner first came to visit me on a Wednesday. Error screamed loudly for the following three days, but the truth of Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 97) was proved, "It requires courage to utter truth; for the higher Truth lifts her voice, the louder will error scream, until its inarticulate sound is forever silenced in oblivion." The practitioner realized the nothingness of error, also that man is spiritual and that these erroneous beliefs had no power over God's reflection.
