Resentment vanishes, and heart trouble is healed

"Despise not the chastening of the Lord" (Prov. 3:11). These words came to my thought in answer to my prayer for enlightenment in overcoming inharmony and discord. With the words came a most wonderful sense of peace and well-being. It was in the early hours of the morning, after I had mentally struggled all the previous day to overcome a feeling of self-pity and resentment because of what I considered the ingratitude and deceit of a friend, that my answer came. Then I could see how wrong I was in attaching error to person. Error being a self-constituted lie, it could be neither person, place, nor thing. I then saw it for what it was—falsity, evil, the opposite of God or good—and I knew that it had no power over any of God's ideas. Since God saw everything that He had made and called it good, then anything unlike good could have no foundation in Truth and therefore could not stand.

As these beautiful, healing thoughts came into my consciousness, I felt "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding" (Phil. 4:7). All sense of resentment and ill will vanished, and I was free. I thanked God for another proof that divine Love always meets our needs and that "trials are proofs of God's care," as Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 66 of the textbook, Science and Health.

My gratitude and love for Christian Science could never be expressed in mere words. Since beginning its study about sixteen years ago, I have indeed been born again.
